Before Jesus born in Bethlehem, Matthew states that bear the name of "Emmanuel" , meaning "God-with -us. " The indication is surprising not because it is not the name by which Jesus was known, and very well known evangelist.
Actually, Matthew is offering readers the key to approach the story that will give us Jesus, seeing in his person, his gestures, in his message and his whole life the mystery of God sharing our life. This faith encourages and sustains those who follow Jesus.
God is with us. Does not belong to one religion or another. Not owned by Christians. Neither of the good. It's all her sons and daughters. Is with those who call upon him and those who ignore it, it dwells in every human heart, accompanying each in their joys and sorrows. Nobody lives without their blessing.
God is with us. We did not hear his voice. No see his face. Your humble and unobtrusive presence, close and intimate, we may go unnoticed. If you do not delve into our hearts, we seem to walk alone through life.
God is with us. No screams. Do not force anyone. Always respected. It is our best friend. We are attracted towards the good, the beautiful, just enough. In it we find light humble and strong force to face the hardships of life and the mystery of death.
God is with us. When nobody understands us, he welcomes us. In moments of pain and depression, we are comforted. In weakness and impotence sustains us. Whenever we are inviting to love life, to care and make it better.
God is with us. Is in the oppressed to defend their dignity, and those who fight against oppression by encouraging their effort. And everybody is calling us to build a more just and fraternal, more dignity for all, beginning with the last.
God is with us. Wake up our responsibility and raises our dignity. Strengthens our spirit not to end slavery of any idol. Is saving us so that we can spoil.
God is with us. Is in life and be in death. Us every day and we will host in the final hour. Also then be hugging each child, ransoming for eternal life.
God is with us. This is what Christians celebrate at Christmas: believers, fewer believers, bad Christians and almost unbelieving. This faith sustains our hope and brings joy to our lives.
