Bhakti Tirtha Swami SS: Friends helps us to evolve. Bhakti Tirtha Swami SS

"True friends do not feed their egos or encourage each other needs, but remember each that is most essential. The loyal friends are those who connect with us spiritually, motivating us to move forward faster to the finish line. His own examples should remind us of the benefits of staying true to the devotional process.
A great teacher in my spiritual lineage who said that glorifies us is our enemy and who is criticizing us our friend. The person we glorifies is implying that we're fine as we are, while the person who criticizes us is that we must improve, and, since we are in the material realm, we all have many aspects that need improvement. That's why we insist to those who work harder on ourselves are our loyal friends. We must be cautious when people praise us too and whenever we do something worthwhile, we should move any praise to the Lord, who allowed us to be used as a tool in their service. When we begin to take credit for our successes, we accept all material burdens that accompany such an attitude.
As we release our material attachments, you may want to know how to evaluate our spiritual progress. A simple way of knowing that we are moving is to see if many of our previous activities or environments have become boring or unpleasant, or not. We are making progress when it does not excite us worldly music we heard, the places frequented or friends with whom we asociƔbamos that are still wedded to materialist molds. Gradually began to feel worn out by these hobbies, environments and people. This is a sign that something is changing. Although outwardly we appear as before, we are internally different, because our level of awareness is higher now. "
